Storm damage help
One June 20th, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster aid would be available to several counties in Nebraska including five served by Twin Valleys Public Power District. These include Red Willow, Furnas, Frontier, Gosper and Phelps counties.
On May 22nd of this year there was damage due to severe thunderstorms with high winds, possible tornadoes, and heavy rains and flooding that caused damage to a portion of Twin Valleys PPD’s system. 4½ miles of 3-phase distribution line was lost in the Lebanon area, a pole of the 69kV transmission line that serves Cambridge was broken and wash outs of some of the underground lines for the BIC water project were the main areas of damage. We also received other areas of damage from the storms that evening.
This FEMA disaster declaration will be a boost to the customers of Twin Valleys Public Power District. “With the recovery of a good portion of the repair costs from the May 22nd storm we won’t have to pass these costs on to our customers. This will help keep future rate increases at a minimum” said Jim Dietz, General Manager of Twin Valleys Public Power District.
